Yoga can help increase:
- flexibility
- strength
- circulation
- oxygen uptake
- range of motion in your joints to include the joints in your spine
Yoga can help decrease:
- cortisol levels
- physical discomfort
- anxiety
- depression
- reactionary behavior
- unwanted weight
But the greatest benefit is the result of all of the things listed above. As you begin to feel better and your body systems benefit from your practice you start to feel a sense of wellbeing and calm. Reactionary responses start to become more thoughtful moving from reactionary to responsive. You begin to create space in your life for thoughtful, mindful communication and decision making. Ultimately all of this additional space and ease brings with it a natural deepening connection with your Creator and the ability to co-create the life of your dreams!
Every person is unique and as a result each person will have a different expereince. The only way to know what yoga will do for you is to hit your mat. I came to the mat with significant phsyical pain, reactionary behavior and uncertainty and frustration in nearly every area of my life. after 3 weeks I noticed a reduction in physical discomfort, after 3 months my family noticed that I was happier, after 9 months people we commenting about how calm I was.

Hatha
Hatha yoga is the 5000 year old physical yoga practice (asana) that includes breath work, physical movement, and focus to help balance the body and mind. You can strengthen your body, loosen your muscles, and release stress. This style of class moves at a pace that allows each participant to fully experience each posture. Explore each posture and gain a greater understanding of the body/mind connection.
Hatha yoga is a great option for all levels of practice. During every Hatha yoga class at Come As You Are Yoga in San Diego, we guide you through a series of poses in a methodical and flowing manner. Our classes encourage deep breathing, physical stability, increased focus, balance, and mindfulness, often helping to relieve stress while keeping your body active.
At Come As You Are Yoga we believe that perfection is never the goal, most of the instruction will be the same no matter what level you are practicing at. Beginners will learn something new and more experienced yogis will get the practice improving guidance that will help them not only improve their expression of each pose while staying present and mindful of their physical being.
Vinyasa
This style of yoga is great for people who have taken a yoga class before. Combines breath and movement to build heat, loosen muscles and shake off the stress of the day. This class moves as fast as your breath does. Inhale in one position and exhale in the next. If you are working on focus this is a great way to clear your mind and direct your focus. Let this one breath to one movement style of yoga add a fun lively energy to your next gathering. Be prepared to have a great time.
Restorative/Yin Yoga
This 75-minute class is most productive when it is practiced with cold muscles. Each pose is held for 5-7 minutes. This non-moving class uses bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps to support and facilitate stretching during each of the poses. As you focus on your breathing and on calming your mind you will also be hydrating the connective tissue that surrounds and supports your skeletal structure. As a result of this kind of stretching many find that they have an increase in range of motion, a reduction in pain, and ease in sleep. Restorative Yoga has a goal of maximum relaxation. Practicing relaxation and deep breathing tones the polyvagal nerve, calming the nervous system and allowing you to shift into the parasympathetic nervous system. The results include a reduction in stress and tension, reduced physical pain, and a “longer fuse”. If you have already tried physical therapy or repeated chiropractic adjustments that don’t seem to stick you may find that Restorative Yoga is a wonderful and productive addition to your care and healing.
These classes are taught via Zoom so you can pick your own calming music, lower the light, or use candlelight in an effort to help you find a quiet clarity of mind and help to aid you in your goal of healing. NO driving or parking or worrying about what to wear. Just set up your space, show up for yourself, and get ready to breathe.
Happy Back Yoga

Moving Meditation
Shorter ~ 30 minute guided practice with short easy to follow sequences (ancient sequences) that have been used for generations to loosen and awaken the whole body, focus the mind and expand the breath.
What to Expect from Your Asana Practice
Please keep in mind that yoga (taught to adults) is meant to be an individual practice. I work to provide a practice that balances and benefits each participant. Before each class, you will have the opportunity to make a request or tell me how you are so that each class you take will benefit you specifically.
Every Hatha class offered by Come As You Are Yoga is taught by a certified instructor who understands the mental and health benefits of yoga and is able to encourage proper movements and healthy growth during each class. Your yoga instructor may not follow the movements herself, but instead, recite the movement instructions from the front of the room while watching to ensure that you and your fellow class members are safely and properly moving from pose to pose. When you participate in a Zoom yoga class at Come As You Are Yoga, remember to find a quiet/calm place to put your mat and to hydrate before, during, and after class. During the course of the class feel free to unmute to ask questions or request modifications as needed.
